How to Hard Reset a Chromebook

An amazing number of issues with Chromebooks can be resolved with a "Hard Reset".  A hard reset is not as dramatic or destructive as it sounds; it simply gives the hardware of your Chromebook a bit of a reset to get it back in good working order.  Hard resets do not cause any loss of saved data, user profiles or configurations.   A hard reset is great tool for any Chromebook user to have to attempt to resolve issues before entering a ticket.

For most Chromebooks, follow the steps below:

1. Turn off your Chromebook (if possible/applicable).
2. Press and hold Refresh + tap Power . 
3. When your Chromebook starts up, release Refresh .
